Anthony Joshua’s team isn’t short of dates and venues to offer rivals for the British heavyweight to take on. Now, it seems like AJ’s fight vs Jarrell Miller is officially on board.
Team Joshua has reportedly held out a heavyweight championship match for Miller’s taking on June 1 at the Big Apple. It will serve as the WBA (Super), IBF and WBO heavyweight world titleholder’s American debut.
After Deontay Wilder declined AJ’s callout for a unification match, promoter Eddie Hearn said he’s given Tyson Fury an offer to challenge the 29-year-old heavyweight. However, both potential rivals have their eyes fixed on getting a rematch after their phenomenal bout.
Following the thumbs down, WBC silver heavyweight Dillian Whyte became the next fighter on the line to fight AJ at the Wembley Stadium on April 13th. However, it looks like Miller is also getting a bid for the first day of June.
According to Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger, a formal offer was handed down to the undefeated fighter to box Joshua in the second quarter of 2019. In a recent tweet, the sports journalist wrote:
“Sources: Formal offer made to Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller for heavyweight championship fight vs. Anthony Joshua on June 1 at MSG. Sides sit several million dollars apart. The fight would be streamed by DAZN stateside and serve as Joshua’s US debut.”

The Mecca of Boxing
This sounds like an interesting matchup to many since Miller is undefeated in his 24 professional bouts. The New Yorker said he wants the heavyweight showdown to happen in his soil after calling out his potential opponent last month.
“Madison Square Garden is the Mecca of boxing. I don’t care what anybody says. If AJ wants to come to America, this is the place to do it, and I’m the man to punch him in the face,” Miller said in an interview with Sky Sports.
The 30-year-old heavyweight is fighting under Hearn’s Matchroom USA banner so an in-house bout isn’t far from possible. In fact, the boxing promoter thinks an AJ Vs Miller showdown would be something special.
“I do know that Anthony Joshua against Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden would be something very, very special,” Hearn said in December. “AJ is over there. We’re keeping it nice and clean tonight.”

Continuing, ‘Big Baby’ disclosed how hungry he is to seize a belt from a heavyweight titleholder.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him again and face-off with him. It’s all fun, it’s not personal, only business.”
“AJ is a great champion, doing his thing outside and inside the ring, but sooner or later I’m going to punch him in the face. Anybody that has the belt, that’s how I feel. I feel like I can beat AJ any day, I know I can beat Deontay.”
