After what seems like an eternity, August 26 is nearly upon us and when it lands, we will bear witness to one of the most monumental moments in the history of combat sports.
No matter the result, Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather is, without a doubt, the biggest sporting event of the year: it has captured the imagination of fans and non-fans alike, the viewing numbers promise to be absolutely huge, and both fighters stand to make incredible sums of money.
It was McGregor’s sheer willpower and business nous that made this fight happen. His constant trolling and baiting of Mayweather caused the undefeated champ to take the bait and accept the challenge of a boxing match.
Still, most fans didn’t believe that the fight would ever come to fruition until the deal was actually signed. After that, a whirlwind world tour took place and the boxing world was introduced to McGregor.
It’s safe to say he made one hell of an introduction…‘Fu*k Showtime too!’
Both men did an excellent job of promoting the fight and drumming up interest. Mayweather had to walk a fine line between painting The Notorious as a worthy opponent and confidently predicting that he would notch up the 50th win of his professional career.
McGregor, on the other hand, told people that he would knock Mayweather out inside of four rounds.
The pair have been trading insults for months now but with Aug 26 just around the corner, the weigh ins were the last time that Mayweather and McGregor would face off before doing so in front of a packed T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It was also the last chance for either fighter to gain a psychological edge over his opponent before the opening bell sounds and we get down to business.
Conor McGregor entered the weigh ins a huge crowd favourite and weighed in 1 pound below the weight limit for the fight, underscoring any concerns people were having about his weight.

Floyd Mayweather however stunned the crowd weighing in at 149.5lbs.

Shortly after the weigh-ins took place, the Internet quickly responded to Conor McGregor’s, erm, “excitedness”. It’s been pointed out that Conor appears to have an erection during the staredown with Floyd Mayweather.
This wasn’t the first time McGregor has taken to the scales “full” either:
What do you think? Was this a ploy to get into Floyd’s head or was he just a little excited about the big pay day?
