Ronda Rousey Breaks Her Silence Via Instagram Post

Mixed martial arts mega star and the former Women’s Bantamweight champion of the UFC, Ronda Rousey, has emerged from the shadows following her recent loss.

The Olympic Judo bronze medalist took to Instagram ten days after losing to current Women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the first round.

Rousey was hot on the trail of a comeback fight, having lost her belt via headkick knockout to boxer turned mixed martial artist Holly Holm in the second round at UFC 193 in late 2015. Rousey retreated from the spotlight following the loss, and was barely seen or heard from for months until her title matchup with the champion, Nunes, a heavy hitter from Brazil, was announced.

Teased for months as the comeback of the golden girl of mixed martial arts, UFC 207 on New Year’s Eve was teed up to be a shining moment for Rousey.

Alas, her latest appearance in the octagon resulted in a 48 second knockout at the hands of Nunes, who pressured Rousey against the fence early, landing vicious punches that had the former champion out on her feet.

Following the release of a prepared statement, Rousey hasn’t been heard from following her loss to Nunes. That is, until today, where she took to Instagram to post an inspirational quote from J.K. Rowling, the author of best selling children’s book “Harry Potter”. The line originates from a commencement address that Rowling gave at Harvard.

The full quote is as follows:

“Why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me,” Rowling said. “Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged.
“I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
