WATCH: Spine Tingling Moment As Rose Namajunas’ Man Hypes Her Up Cage Side

Some cornermen like to give a quick word of encouragement before their fighter hops into the cage. Others like to let loose and pump their fighter up, and sometimes it can make some very interesting viewing.

The video you’re about to see shows a mix of emotions that are equal parts terrifying, cute and hype from UFC strawweight champion “Thug” Rose Namajunas’ long-term partner, former UFC heavyweight competitor Pat Barry.

Namajunas has come a long way since her UFC debut back in December of 2014. Her first bout in the UFC’s hallowed Octagon saw her losing a hard fought battle with Carla Esparza via rear naked choke in the third round, however, she has shown a marked improvement in her fighting ability in every outing since then.

The twenty-five-year-old from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has fought some of the best female straw weights in the history of mixed martial arts. Namajunas has made a habit of taking home victories against some of the sport’s biggest names, including Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres, Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson and former strawweight champion Joanna “Champion” Jedrzejczyk.

Namajunas’ title bout with Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217 saw her dethrone the queen of the strawweight division who had racked up an impressive 14 victory winning streak since entering the sport back in 2012. Namajunas managed to knock out the Polish striking prodigy in the first round, shocking the world in the process.

Facing such fearsome opponents such as Jedrzejczyk, who has brutalised her past opponents to the point where they’ve needed facial reconstructions to be performed by plastic surgeons, is there any wonder why you might need to get hyped up to step into the cage?

Namajunas was preparing to take on Tecia Torres for the second time in her career at UFC on FOX: Teixeira vs. Evans. Namajunas had previously lost to Torres at Invicta FC 6 via unanimous decision and had looked nervous on her walk up to the octagon.

She would walk away with a split decision victory following their rematch, but it was the scene of encouragement and support given to her by Barry that set the mixed martial arts world ablaze.

Stone-faced and ready to go to war, Namajunas embraced her partner and stood in front of him, staring into his eyes as he unleashed a tirade of encouragement and hype before declaring that she should “go in there and f*cking fight” before sending her off into the cage.
