‘Cowboy’ Slams MMA Fans Who Think He Took A Dive Against Conor McGregor

Donald Cerrone has clapped back on mixed martial arts fans accusing him of taking a dive against Conor McGregor.

The 15-year MMA veteran appeared on his first ever pay-per-view main event fight at UFC 246 last January 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada opposite the returning Irishman.

In front of a mammoth crowd at the T-mobile Arena, Cerrone was knocked out by McGregor just 40 seconds into the first round, following brutal shoulder strikes, a head kick, and ground-and-pound from the former-two-division champ.

McGregor finally returned to win column after more than three years while Cerrone suffered his third-straight defeat in a devastating fashion.

He also suffered fractured nose in the process and might sit out for six months as per the medical suspensions report from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Days after the loss, Cerrone had a heated exchange with fans on social media as he dismissed claims that he got paid to lose against McGregor.

‘Get A Life’

In his most recent Instagram post, Cerrone shuts down those who brought the issue and challenges them to unfollow him on social media if they insist their claims.

“Take a dive you stupid motherf*cker? Who you think you’re talking to? Get a f*cking life,” the MMA veteran replied to a fan’s comment.

In another response, Cerrone wrote: “You think that’s funny? You feel like I’m the kind of man that would sell my soul? Do me a favor and unfollow me if that’s how you feel.”

Cerrone was also the center of the feud between Joe Rogan and Stephen A. Smith after the ESPN personality said he was disgusted by ‘Cowboy’s UFC 246 performance.

“I’m quite disgusted,” Smith admitted.

“Let me be very, very clear: I’m honored to be up here with you guys. I’m a spectator watching the sport. I expected to see more than 40 seconds.”

“I predicted McGregor was going to win this fight inside of two rounds. I thought he would take him out.”

“Here’s the deal: 15 seconds in, ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone was done. He got hit with those shoulders in the clinch, and he was done. It look like he gave up.”

“It was just an atrocious performance on his part.”

‘That’s Not Me’

Even before the Las Vegas card, the 36-year old fighter has made it clear he would rather fight for free than get paid and lose.

“Hell no, I’m not bowing down,” Cerrone said in a previous interview with MMA Fighting.

“There’s a bunch of sh*t going around, people keep telling me ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive.’”

“There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive.”

“I could never look myself in the mirror if somebody paid me to take a dive. Sh*t, never happen.”

“I’d rather fight for free than take money to f*cking lose. That’s not me. I’m going to fight my ass off like I do every time.”
