Leon Edwards Lays Into Jorge Masvidal And Kamaru Usman For ‘WWE’ Bust-Up

Leon Edwards has laid into bitter rivals Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman after the two engaged in a heated confrontation in Miami recently.

Masvidal and Usman both attended the Super Bowl media day at Radio Row, where they had to be separated by security following an argument between interviews.

But Edwards wasn’t impressed by the altercation, and has now blasted the pair over their WWE-esque theatrics.

 ‘Weird’

Talking to Metro, Edwards said: “Usman’s weird.”

“I saw a video of him and Jorge at the Super Bowl thing, arguing,”

‘It was a weird thing to do.”

“It was a weird WWE thing they had going on.”

“The cameras were already there, ready to get it all.”

“But that’s what sells now, it’s the WWE/UFC.”

“You need that interaction to sell a fight.”

‘Corny’

Edwards has been pushing for a rematch with UFC welterweight champion Usman, who is responsible for his last loss in the UFC before an 8 win streak.

It’s Masvidal however who is the forerunner to face the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ next, with both parties confirming a deal is close.

But Edwards has also torn into Masvidal, and claims that the only reason ‘Gamedbred’ has garnered so much attention is because of his antics outside the Octagon.

“He’s corny,” Edwards exclaimed.

“At the Conor McGregor fight he turned up in a f****** robe.”

“What are you doing?”

“No top on!”

“It’s a weird time to be in MMA”

“It’s a good time too, because it’s popular.”

“But it’s a weird time for athletes because if you’re not corny like that, you don’t get the same attention.”

“It’s a weird thing.”

“I don’t like him doing that stuff.”

 ‘Title Fight’

Edwards will take on Tyron Woodley in London on March 21, but he’s already looking past that fight as he aims for UFC gold.

When asked which of the two he’d prefer to fight, Edwards refused to rule out the possibility of both.

But the 28-year-old says he prefer to take Usman’s welterweight title first, and then defend it against Masvidal.

“Title fight,” Edwards declared.

“Masvidal would be a cherry on the cake after I win the title.”

“My aim is to be world champion, that first.”

“I can defend my title against Masvidal.”

“I would never turn down a title fight to fight Masvidal.”
