What Tyson Fury Told Deontay Wilder After Stopping Him In Rematch

Despite the heated rivalry between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, the newly-crowned WBC heavyweight champ has shown his opponent huge respect after their rematch.

In front of a jampacked MGM Grand Garden Arena crowd, the British behemoth stamped his class against Wilder, dominating him through seven rounds in the re-run of their December 2018 showdown, en route to a convincing technical knockout victory.

Fury, whose striking skills were repeatedly mocked by Wilder ahead of the rematch, dropped the American boxer twice – first in the third round with a right hand to the temple and second in the fifth frame using a vicious body shot.

‘The Gypsy King’ was just too much for Wilder that his corner decided to throw in the towel at the 1:39 mark of the seventh round, leading to the stoppage.

It was Fury’s 31st straight win of his boxing career while ‘The Bronze Bomber’ saw his five-year reign as the WBC heavyweight champion and his 42-fight winning streak coming to a halt.

Dynamite Fighter

Shortly after the TKO win, Fury went straight to his rival and embraced him before praising Wilder for being a dynamite fighter.

“What a fighter, what a fighter you are,” Fury told Wilder.

“Anybody you land on…”

“Let me tell you something, in that first round, you were f**king dynamite.”

“God bless you and your family.”

The heavyweight rivals are likely to fight again in a trilogy bout, with the British champ eyeing the 70 000-seater Raiders Stadium in Las Vegas as the potential venue.

“I expect he will want a rematch and he will have that,” Fury claimed.

“Great fights should have trilogies. And I want it here, just across the road, at the Raiders Stadium outdoors in front of 70 000.”

“Deontay is a hell of performer, dynamite in his fists and he will always be dangerous.”

No Excuses

As for Wilder, he looks to come back stronger after the stunning loss while admitting he has been dealing with some issues on his legs even before the fight.

“I’m doing good you know, things like this happen. The best man won on the night. But my coach, my side threw in the towel, and you know, I’m ready to go out on my shield.”

“I had a lot of things going on coming into this fight, but it is what it is. My leg was already weak coming in due to other little things. But, I make no excuses tonight.”

“I just wish that my corner would have let me went out on my shield. I’m a warrior, that’s what I do. But he did what he did, there’s no excuses and we come back and be stronger.”
