Ex-UFC Fighter Desmond Green Jailed For Breaching Bail In Manslaughter Case

Former UFC lightweight Desmond Green has been jailed again after he violated his terms of release regarding an ongoing manslaughter case.

In 2018, Green was involved in a five-car collision that saw two people lose their lives.

 Charges

Consequent charges faced by Green include DUI manslaughter, serious bodily injury, drug possession, driving without a license and reckless driving.

The 30-year-old pled not guilty to all charges, and was released on bail for $180,000.

But the lightweight has reportedly found himself back behind bars after breaching the conditions of his release.

According to reports from TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, Green was arrested for driving while suspended and ultimately incarcerated.

Revoked

Green will face a secondary hearing on March 6th.

The recent violation has resulted in a motion being filed by the State of Florida to revoke Green’s bail.

The statement reads: “[Green] has violated a condition of said pretrial release in that on January 22nd, 2020, the Defendant committed the offense Felony [Driving with license suspended (with over two priors)]…”

“Additionally, the Defendant has violated a condition of said pretrial release in that on September 4th, 2019, the Defendant committed the offense of Running a Red Light…”

“Additionally, the Defendant has violated a condition of said pretrial release in that on September 17th, 2019, the Defendant committed the offense of Running a Red Light…”

“Additionally, the Defendant has violated a condition of said pretrial release in that on October 25th, 2019, the Defendant committed the offense of Running a Red Light…”

The State has requested that any release agreement be revoked, and called for Green to be re-incarcerated without bond.

Winning Start

The news comes just days after Green signed a contract with Russian MMA promotion ACA.

Green’s first fight in the UFC came in April 2017 with a decision victory over Josh Emmett.

He then fought three times prior, and three times after the car accident with a 3-3 record.

His last fight in the UFC was a decision win against Charles Jourdain in May 2019.
