UFC has gone through a lot this year, and there have been recurring pullouts for the past months. And with just a few weeks before the highly anticipated fight card for UFC 230, these instances are not prevented.
UFC 230 is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York, but the lineup of fighters appears to be different from when it was first announced.
First, Nate Diaz was set to fight Dustin Poirier in the co-headliner of the card. However, their fight was cancelled after Poirier pulled out due to an injury. Then, Sijara Eubanks was slated to fight Valentina Shevchenko in the main event. But in a sudden turn of events, the fight was replaced by a heavyweight title fight between Derrick Lewis and reigning double champion Daniel Cormier.
In addition, Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman were set to lock horns as a replacement for the co-main event. However, Rockhold had to pull out of the fight after suffering an injury of his own.
Filling in Rockhold’s place in Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who will fight Weidman in the co-main event. Domingo Pilarte and Brian Kelleher were also set to fight at UFC 230, but Pilarte has since been pulled from the fight. Kelleher is now set to face Montel Jackson.
And now, after a series of pullouts, another fight at UFC 230 has been altered. In a report from MMA Nytt, Ruslan Magomedov won’t make it to the event, which leaves Marcos Rogrrio de Lima without an opponent. However, Adam Wieczorek offered to step in as a short-notice replacement.
De Lima (15-5-1) will be moving back to the heavyweight division after having fought at 205-pounds in the UFC. The Brazilian fighter is returning from a loss to Ovince Saint Preux in April 2017 and has gone 4-3 in his UFC career.
With all these alterations, the UFC 230 fight card now looks like this:
Daniel Cormier vs. Derrick Lewis
Chris Weidman vs Ronaldo Souza
Dave Branch vs Jared Cannonier
Karl Roberson vs Jack Marshman
Derek Brunson vs. Israel Adesanya
Jason Knight vs Jordan Rinaldi

Julio Arce vs Sheymon Moraes

Matt Frevola vs Lando Vannata
Shane Burgos vs Kurt Holobaugh
