Months away from their much-awaited rematch, Tyson Fury has taken a major jab on Deontay Wilder.
The heavyweight rivals are set to meet on February 2020 for a re-run of their December 2018 fight, which ended in a split draw.
Since that controversial fight, Wilder and Fury have won two heavyweight bouts apiece.
Fury made short work of Tom Schwarz last June before defeating Otto Wallin via unanimous decision in September, where he sustained a wild eye injury that required 47 stitches.
Meanwhile, Wilder eked out a first-round finish of Dominic Breazeale last May before knocking out Luis Ortiz in their rematch last Saturday.
The American champion has declared himself a the hardest-hitting puncher in boxing history, saying he would knock Fury out next year just ‘like I did in the first fight.’
Despite Wilder’s massive win last weekend, ‘The Gypsy King’ is showing he is not intimidated with the current WBC heavyweight champion.
New Definitions
In fact, Fury recently took a shot on his heavyweight rival, paying the Urban Dictionary to change the meanings of the word ‘dosser’ to describe Wilder.
Here are some of the definitions:
“An American professional boxer. Who has held the WBC heavyweight title since 2015, and in doing so became the first American world heavyweight champion in nine years, he was gifted a draw against Tyson fury in a match where was named “Dosser”.”
“A useless mismanaged WBC heavyweight champion who talks s*** and hasnt beaten anybody noteworthy in his entire career.
“You’re getting knocked the f*** out you useless dosser.”
Different Story
Boxing promoter, Frank Warren, sees the rematch going the Briton’s way.
He told Talk Sport that the lineal heavyweight champion is more physically and mentally prepared this time.
“When he [Fury] fought him last time he had to lose 11 stone in weight, he was training to make the weight.”
“He’s mentally in a great place, he’s just in the best place I’ve ever seen him.”
“And that’s why this is gonna be such a different fight this time around.”
“I don’t think Deontay Wilder can change anything in what he does.”
Warren also believes Wilder’s knockout power would not come to play in February fight.
“He’s a big puncher, he might be able to take the fight to him, but Tyson has various game plans.”
“I just think with his composure, the way he fights, I believe he’ll take him to school this time.”
“All punchers, there’s a day that comes when someone can take the punch or they can’t get the punch in and they get outboxed.”
