WATCH: Footage Of Tony Ferguson’s Unorthodox Training For UFC 249

Tony Ferguson is gearing up for a tough battle.

After a series of fallout, the number one contender is booked against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the fifth time as they are slated to headline the UFC 249 pay-per-view event in April.

Ferguson holds the longest and most active winning streak in the lightweight division, winning 12 straight fights since his unanimous decision loss to Michael Johnson in 2012.

His most recent win is against Donald Cerrone as he defeated the mixed martial arts veteran by way of doctor stoppage at UFC 238 in June.

He also holds notable victories against Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee, Rafael Dos Anjos, and many others.

The UFC 239 main event fight is being dubbed as the biggest MMA bout this year, with Ferguson set to give the Russian champion the toughest test of his career.

Coming For Khabib

Ahead of the lightweight title fight, Ferguson has shared videos of his unconventional training on his Instagram account.

Most Unorthodox

With Ferguson’s unconventional style of fighting, color commentator Joe Rogan has hailed him as the most successful unorthodox fighter in the history of sport.

“It’s a great fight,” Rogan said of the Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov matchup.

“I love the fight. Stylistically, [Ferguson is] the best guy that Khabib has ever faced because he can fight off his back.”

“He’s a guy that doesn’t survive off his back, he attacks off his back.”

“He’s the most unorthodox high-level guy ever.”

“He’s real good. At his level — I consider him a world championship caliber fighter — at his level, I don’t know of anybody that’s more unorthodox than him.”

“And his f**king cardio, man… his cardio is crazy. Off the charts. I’ve never seen anybody with cardio like that.”
