Cameroonian-born mixed martial arts fighter, kickboxer and four-time Muay Thai world champion Alain “The Panther” Ngalani made history back in September of 2017 when he stopped Hideki “Shrek” Sekine at the Total Victory card in Jakarta.
The Hong Kong-based wrecking ball destroyed Sekine in just 11 seconds in an incredibly wild exchange.
As soon as the first round bell sounded Sekine chased his opponent, rushing forward at the 104 kilogram Cameroonian, attempted to land heavy punches as he pushed forward wildly.
A monstrous right hook was all it for “The Panther” to get the job done, sending “Shrek” falling face down onto the canvas in a move that was eerily similar to UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic’s knockout of former champion Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 in May of 2016. Miocic, much like Ngalani, landed a picture perfect shot on his opponent as he backpedalled, winning the heavyweight championship as well as giving Werdum his first loss since 2011.
Ngalani began to move forward to ensure the fight was over, but it was clear to everyone watching that Sekine was already finished. Ngalani gave his signature salute in the cage and then celebrated the victory with his team.
Ngalani’s finish over Sekine is recorded as ONE FC’s fastest heavyweight knockout in the history of the promotion. Ngalani, who trains out of his own gym, Impakt, moved to a record of 4-3 with the victory, while Sekine dropped to 7-2. Ngalani has only been competing in mixed martial arts since 2013, previously having fought in karate and kickboxing.
He was set to be eyeing of a fight with Brandon “The Truth” Vera, who had been taking some time away from mixed martial arts to be an action film star in the Philippines, and instead took a bout with Aung La N Sang in November of 2017, where he was submitted with a guillotine choke.
Whether or not we’ll ever see Ngalani face Vera is unclear at this stage, but with hands as heavy as these, we’d sure love to see “The Panther” get a crack at Vera one day.
