“My God That Was Sickening” UFC 217 Gets A Second ‘Worrying’ KO
Ovince Saint Preux has produced a stunning finish to his UFC 217 match up with Corey Anderson with the 34-year-old executing a perfect head kick. The strike came a minute and twenty-five seconds into the third round and seemingly came from nowhere.
Anderson looked well on his way to a unanimous decision as the tactician went about his business working Saint Preux through the opening two rounds. The two American nationals didn’t disappoint their home nation with the surprising twist. The beautiful strike which caught Anderson completely off guard landed flush on the side of the head, rattling and sending the 28-year-old crashing to the deck.
Stepping in at the last minute to replace Patrick Cummins, UFC 217 marks OSP’s second fight in 6 weeks after he finished Yushin Okami via a Von Flue choke in Saitama, Japan in September. There were fears that the Tennessee-cased fighter would be underdone for this card, however, after finishing the fight in such convincing fashion, those fears were put to rest.
The fight was tantalizing with the 6th and 7th-ranked fights going head-to-head. Many saw Anderson go in with a slight advantage given he hadn’t taken to the Octagon since March. The win takes Ovince’s professional record to 22 and 10 and with three wins on the trot, sees momentum taken into his next fight. The star has been called out by Ilir Latifi to go head to head at UFC 219 on December 30, Las Vegas. OSP was quick to accept the challenge saying “Let’s do this!”. We’d love to see it!

Conversely, Anderson has now lost two in a row and will look to regroup after being finished twice in a row by hefty knocks.
