UFC 204 took place last weekend, and if we’re honest, outside the main event, it was one of the more ordinary pay per view cards in recent times.
The card was headlined by UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, fighting Dan Henderson in what was the final fight of Henderson’s career.
The story of the night was once again proven that Michael Bisping is a resilient man. ‘The Count’ survived two huge H-BOMBs from Dan Henderson in the first two rounds to go the distance against the long-time MMA veteran and retained his middleweight title by unanimous decision on Saturday.
One other fight which stood out from the night, was between “Platinum” Mike Perry and Danny “Hot Chocolate” Roberts.
The preliminary card bout went the distance, with the pair producing an all out slugfest war. With barely 30 seconds left on the clock, Perry caught Roberts with a right, followed by a knee and another right, sending him crashing to the canvas.
The win takes Perry’s UFC record to 2-0 and one step closer to a high profile opponent.
Not only is he one of the most exciting up and comer fighters in the UFC, his antics outside of the octagon have quickly made him one of the most hated and loved fighter on the roster.
Perry first made headlines during his debut UFC weigh-in, where he put his hand out to shake his opponents hand, before pulling away and taking a fight stance.
In the lead up to UFC 202, fans took to Reddit to confirm they had turned up to the weigh-ins purely to see what Perry would do next. Despite some aggressive yelling between the two men, fans were left feeling a little disappointed.
But it’s now surfaced that something did occur during the weigh-ins which most people probably missed.
When facing off with Roberts, Perry appeared to put something in his mouth, but it was unclear to most what it was.
It’s now been confirmed that what he put in his mouth was some chocolate. Perry took to Instagram to set the record straight, saying he took a bite of chocolate and told him he was going to eat his opponent alive. His opponent of course, being nick named “hot chocolate”.
