Conor McGregor made worldwide headlines this week after an interview with The Guardian after “The Notorious” mentioned how easily he would ‘dismantle’ Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
“In a real fight, I would dismantle him in seconds,” McGregor said. “Ronda would dismantle him in seconds – 100 percent. When you don’t know how to grapple, you don’t stand a chance. For us, it’s like playing with a baby. People who don’t understand the sport cannot understand how vulnerable they are.
The quote caused a lot of controversy on social media, with a number of boxing fans (uneducated ones admittedly) claimed adamantly that nobody could’ve defeated aggressive power punching boxers such as Mike Tyson or George Forman in there prime.
Whilst the footage below wasn’t serious, the sparing was light and it was all for a bit of fun, there can be no denying that you can see aspects of Conor’s quote ringing true.
For anyone interested, the professional boxer in the video is 27-1 Irish featherweight Patrick Hyland (who we commend for showing a ton of respect – and being humble enough to agree to be filmed). Check it out here:
