Professional MMA fighter Carmella James is reported to be in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle in Wichita. According to a report, the 24-year-old was hit in vehicle operated by Larry Gaines who is suspected of being in an inebriated state during the incident.
The 34-year-old was arrested by the Sedgwick County’s Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of aggravated battery and DUI and is currently languishing in jail on a bond said to be in the figure of $100,000.

A resident of Derby, Kansas, James began fighting in amateur MMA in 2016 in the strawweight and flyweight division. It was a breakout year for her in terms of results, winning three of her fights which helped her turn pro in 2017. She has a professional record of 0-4 and has competed in Bellator and LFA.
The pro-fighter has reportedly suffered a severe head trauma because of the collision with her coach Marcio Laselva revealing that she was riding her bicycle at 5 a.m when the incident occurred and that she was a hard worker who wanted to overcome financial troubles through her skills.

The 24-year-old is currently battling for her life with Laselva creating a gofundme page to raise money for her.
