Mike Tyson Confirms He’s Getting Back In Shape For Boxing Return

Boxing legend Mike Tyson is eyeing a return to the ring after more than a decade since his retirement from the sport.

‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ is known as the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title and the first heavyweight to capture the WBC, WBA, and IBF belts simultaneously.

In 2006, Tyson decided to call it quits after suffering back-to-back losses to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride respectively, ending his illustrious boxing career with 50-6 (2NC) record.

The 53-year old legend recently spoke to T.I. and confirmed he is back in training as he wants to compete in charity bouts.

“I’ve been hitting the mitts for the last week. I think I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape,” Tyson said.

First Exhibition

Following his retirement, ‘Iron Mike’ appeared in a four-round exhibition fight against Corey Sanders in an attempt to ease his financial problems and to avoid depression.

“I had fun, but I didn’t expect for it to be that hard,”  Tyson said about the friendly match (per Boxing Scene).

“If I don’t get out of this financial quagmire there’s a possibility I may have to be a punching bag for somebody.”

“The money I make here isn’t going to help any of my bills from a tremendous standpoint, but I’m going to feel better about myself. I’m not going to be depressed.”

“I was training in Las Vegas and 2,000 people a day were there. Why not do an exhibition? [Promoter] Sterling [McPherson] suggested we do a world tour.”

“Once I started training, the stress left. I can’t believe I’m not slurring. I’m not angry. Life’s lessons are priceless.”

Charity Stuffs

But this time, Tyson wants to do it for the people in need.

“I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff,” he told the American rapper.

“Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected mother-f—– like me.”

Sharing his workout routine, Tyson said: “I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps.”

“Then I start my day with the boxing thing, I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition. I’m starting to put those combinations together.

“I’m in pain. I feel like three guys kicked the s— out of me.”
