Khabib Nurmagomedov confirms negotiations of Conor McGregor fight in a Russian press conference.
He says, “There is no opponent at the moment, but there are negotiations about a possible fight at the end of the year. For me, it makes no difference, to be honest. I will fight whoever they give me. As long as I am healthy and have a desire to fight I will be defending my title.
There are negotiations about a fight with McGregor, but I don’t want the negotiations to draw out and take too long. If I won’t be able to come to an agreement with Conor to fight by the end of this year I would like to fight Poirier or another fighter.”
As Khabib brings up Dustin on the tables, one of the reporters makes a remark about Poirier not being good enough. But the Dagestani comments on this and says,
“Not good enough for a UFC title fight you say? I don’t agree with that. He’s fought 20 fights in the UFC. He is a worthy fighter, but I sure don’t have any respect for Dustin. (And) If I fight Conor, you won’t see a fight like with Barboza or Iaquinta. With Conor, I’ll wrestle, take him down and break him.” says the Dagestani.
Khabib’s coach Javier Mendez can see this superfight happening. But not before McGregor sorts out the predicament he is in (charges and all…) and a few loose ends by the name of Nate Diaz.
Mendez told Express Sports that “The next big one that’s going to happen before that, in my opinion, and I believe the logical step for Conor would be to fight Nate Diaz.”
He believes it is “logical” that the Notorious would be more likely to finally settle the score by completing a trilogy with Nate Diaz before moving on and establishing another rivalry with the current UFC Lightweight Champion.
In addition to this, Nate Diaz fires up more of this speculation by publicly provoking McGregor telling TMZ that “He’s (Conor) scared for his life.
So before the superfight, it is more likely that Khabib gets to fight neither Conor McGregor nor GSP. More likely Dustin Poirier. Whilst if McGregor is able to get back in the octagon, it may very well be Nate Diaz.
Let us not forget that Dana White said he was disgusted with McGregor’s antics. And so far, here are the current MMA record and a short bio about two of today’s most popular fighters.
