Kamaru Usman Vs Jorge Masvidal Title Bout Targeted For International Fight Week

Jorge Masvidal is next for the welterweight title shot.

‘Gamebred’s stocks dramatically soared high after scoring three-straight massive wins in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2019, with many fans and pundits hailing him as the Fighter of the Year.

After a brutal finish of Darren Till at UFC London, Masvidal rewrote history by knocking out Ben Askren in five seconds at UFC 239 – the fastest finish ever in the promotion’s history.

Months later, he defeated Nate Diaz by way of doctor stoppage in the main event of UFC 244 to capture the one-and-done ‘baddest motherf***er title.

Since that victory, he has been campaigning for a potential money fight against Conor McGregor as he wants a bigger paycheck for his next outing.

However, the UFC president said ‘The Notorious’ is likely to earn another lightweight title shot, following his 40-second knockout win over Donald Cerrone.

This leaves Masvidal setting his sights on dethroning the current welterweight champion.

‘No Personality’

With the money fight now out of the cards, the ‘BMF’ champ said he wants to fight Usman next for the 170-pound title.

Citing personal dislike, Masvidal vows to introduce himself to the champ with a solid beating, following Usman’s claim he doesn’t know who ‘Gamebred’ is.

“I’m moving on from that fight. This dude didn’t want the fight. I’m not here to bully. I guess it’s Usman’s head,” he told Ariel Helwani.

“He sealed Usman’s fate now.”

“There is something about his face. I don’t like it, it doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t like his attitude either.”

“These little comments of ‘who?’ I have been doing this 16 f*cking years. I’m the fighter of the year, and I’m at your f*cking weight class and you’re going to be as corny and a petty-ass troll and say ‘who?’

“The dude ain’t go no personality. He has 17 different f*cking personalities but not one of them is made for TV. So I want to f*ck his ass up.”

Confirmed

Usman, who is currently recovering from injuries, has revealed that the UFC wants to book him against Masvidal for his next title-defence.

“Give me a month and let this thing heal up. I can make a fist now. I’m cracking,” the champ said.

“They put out the guys, and let’s be honest, if you look at the division, I’ve beaten almost everybody there in the top 10. It’s a matter of who they really want, what’s next. Dana (White) said they really want Jorge.”

“Jorge is the next guy.”

Then last Friday, it was the UFC president’s turn to provide positive update about the match-up, saying the promotion plans to stage the fight this July.

“Dana White on @GamebredFighter: “Him and Usman will fight in Vegas, probably International Fight Week. And then if he wins, maybe we’ll do his first title defense in Miami,” White told The Jim Rome Show.
