Jose Aldo’s Bantamweight Debut Set For UFC 245 Against Marlon Moraes

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight titlist Jose Aldo might be returning to action later this year against a title contender.

Arguably the best featherweight fighter of all-time, Aldo has bared his plans of making a fresh start in the bantamweight class.

This is after a one-sided loss at UFC 237 last May against the number one featherweight title contender, Alexander Volkanovski.

Three days ago, the Brazilian mixed martial artist revealed that he is currently weighing around 150 pounds, following a dramatic weight cut.

“I’m on a diet for a month and my weight is dropping just fine,” he told the media in Rio de Janeiro, (transcript from MMA Fighting).

“I’m training as hard as I’ve ever trained in my life, so I wouldn’t suffer to make featherweight now. My weight is going down well.”

“No doubt I’m fighting at 135 next.”

Now, an initial report from MMA Junkie claims that Aldo will be fighting bantamweight contender, Marlon Moraes at UFC 245 this December.

Strong And Fast

Amid talks of his move to 135 pounds, Aldo assured that he will be a big challenge for current bantamweights, given his power and speed.

“We’re doing a great job with my nutritionists Maria Amelia and Priscila to get there really strong and well.”

“Rest assured that we’re doing the right job and we’ll make weight just fine. I train with bantamweights and I’m stronger and more powerful than any of them.”

“I’ll be strong and fast.”

The former UFC champ is also eyeing a fight against Henry Cejudo, and believes he can finish the reigning bantamweight king.

“He has wrestling… No disrespect, he’s an Olympic medalist, cool, but taking me down is really hard, brother.”

“I know that as soon as I have an opportunity I’ll land a knee and knock him out.”

“Right now I’m more focused on going there and using my kickboxing and striking, fighting more aggressively instead of thinking about strategies.”

Stacked Card

If the bantamweight fight comes to light, Aldo and Moraes will join the stacked year-ender card that is set to feature three title fights.

The UFC’s final pay-per-view event of 2019 will be headlined by Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, with the welterweight championship on the line.

Reigning featherweight champion Max Holloway will defend his title against Volkanovski while two-weight champion Amanda Nunes will square off with Germaine de Randamie for the bantamweight strap.

UFC 245 will go down at the T-mobile Arena on December 14.
