Jorge Masvidal Wants Boxing Fight With ‘Biggest Lottery Ticket’ Floyd Mayweather

Jorge Masvidal said a boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr will be the biggest sweepstakes of his combat sports career.

Now one of the most popular stars in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Masvidal is eyeing bigger challenges along with bigger paychecks for his next fights.

The native of Miami, Florida is coming off technical knockout win against Nate Diaz in their welterweight clash at UFC 244 to become the ‘baddest motherf***er’ in the competition.

Prior to winning the BMF belt, the welterweight star rewrote the history at UFC 239 by knocking out Ben Askren in five seconds, the fastest finish ever in the UFC.

With a very strong resume, Masvidal said winning the title is not his top priority as he campaigns for a future money fight against Conor McGregor or with world boxing champions like Canelo Alvarez and Mayweather Jr.

Cash Money

A fight with McGregor, the promotion’s biggest draw, could earn him a red panty night, but Masvidal said taking on the undefeated boxing legend would be best for his bank account.

“(McGregor) is one of the lottery tickets we’re possibly going to cash on in. It’s not the biggest lottery ticket, but it’s one of the lottery ticket,” he said, (transcript from BJPenn.com).

“Me versus Mayweather. I want cash money. I got children and those children got needs.”

“I love to fight and one of my first loves growing up was boxing, and then I fell in love with wrestling and then UFC came about.”

“And I was like, ‘Wow, I can do them both of them at the same damn time.’ I fell in love with the UFC and that’s all I’ve done, the MMA. But I can box my ass off.”

Not Going To Fade

Mayweather Jr has announced he is coming out of retirement again for a future grand sporting spectacle with UFC president Dana White.

And if Masvidal gets the chance to fight him, he is confident the fight will go the distance.

“Not saying I’m a better boxer than Mayweather but man, I’m gonna be in there with bad intentions trying to hurt him.”

“I’m a well-conditioned athlete who’s not going to fade. I’m not going to fade in the eighth of ninth round (like McGregor).”

“I’m going to be there for the whole night. I want to get into the biggest, toughest, roughest fights that I possibly can and make a paycheck for them as well, get compensated for my skills.”

“If he wants something he has to get up for early in the morning, train in the morning, train at night, that’s me, man.”

“If you want something easy man, then yeah, get the other dudes,” Masvidal ended.
