Jorge Masvidal Reveals Colby Covington Has Gone ‘MIA’ At American Top Team

Jorge Masvidal claims Colby Covington has not been seen at American Top Team since his defeat in Las Vegas in December.

Covington fought for the welterweight world title in the main event of UFC 245 opposite the reigning champion, Kamaru Usman.

The pair went to an all-out war but the American contender came up short of winning the title as he was stopped by Usman in the final round.

Now, according to ‘Gamebred,’ it seems like ‘Chaos’ has parted ways with ATT as he has gone missing in action since his most recent UFC loss.

“Look D, [Dustin Poirier] is going to get upset that I’m even saying this because it’s locker room talk,” Masvidal told Ariel Helwani on Monday.

“But, he’s like, ‘Yo man, where the f**k is Colby?’ So I’m like, don’t even worry about him because he’s on witness protection program.”

“That dude don’t go to the gym, man. He’s a punk and he got what he deserved.”

Acting Different

Masvidal and Covington are former training partners at the Coconut Creek, Florida-based gym.

But their relationship recently turned sour when the UFC considered Masvidal as a replacement for the scrapped UFC 244 fight between Covington and Usman.

‘Chaos’ said his old friend was jealous of his achievements and that Masvidal used him for his own benefit.

“The state of my relationship with Jorge Masvidal is, he’s the type of guy that when you’re doing something for him, yeah he’ll use you,” Covington claimed, per MMA News.

“As long as you’re doing better than him and you’re not helping him out anymore, then he doesn’t care about you.”

“And that’s exactly what happened. When he got beat up by Demian Maia and then I went in there and I completely destroyed Demian Maia in his home country, that’s when the relationship started to get a little bit different.”

“He started to act different towards me like a competitor.”

Money Issue

Masvidal aired his side on the issue, saying it was Covington’s failure to pay his MMA coach that caused the bad blood between them.

“He ripped off my coach, that was his coach. We were with him until his title fight. After he won the title, he owed him a certain amount of money, didn’t pay him.”

“I said if you don’t pay him I’m going to f—k you up. My coach got in between it, it doesn’t have to be like this, let it slide, since thing I ain’t talked to the dude.”

“It’s been about a year and some change.”

“It is what it is. All these words they do have consequences because this guy used to sleep on my couch, used to eat off me cause I was the one with the sponsors.”
