Jorge Masvidal Reacts To Nick Diaz’s Challenge To Fight At Cowboys Stadium

With a heavy resume under his name, Jorge Masvidal wants another huge payday for his next fight regardless of the opponent.

2019 has been a stellar year for the Miami, Florida native.

Turning himself into the strongest candidate for the next title shot, the welterweight star has racked up big wins in his past three fights.

Masvidal has shown he’s got the knockout power after putting Darren Till to sleep at UFC London before eking out the fastest finish in the UFC with a five-second demolition of Ben Askren at UFC 239.

In his most recent UFC outing, Masvidal was once again victorious, coming out with a controversial third-round doctor stoppage win against Nate Diaz.

The UFC 244 main event result has caused a debate between MMA fans while Diaz has hinted on a potential retirement after Dana White said there will be no immediate rematch.

Now, it looks like Nate’s elder brother, Nick Diaz, wants to avenge that loss to Masvidal.

Possible Comeback

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Nick took a swipe on Masvidal’s pre-UFC 244 comments about his younger brother and opened up about his interest in fighting the streaking welterweight next year.

”You want to talk about baptizing my younger brother? That’s on you,” he said, (transcript from MMA Fighting).

“I never had nothing disrespectful to say. But you don’t talk about baptizing my younger brother. You’re already in a f*king position if you fight with me. You don’t talk like that to nobody.”

As for a possible return to the cage, the 36-year old Nick said it all depends on White and his company.

“I’ll fight anybody.”

“This guy [Masvidal] can do anything he wants to do right now to make the most money possible.

“I’m like, you know, do the damn thing … I’m doing my part, you do yours. They can do their part and then the show could go on.”

His manager, Kevin Mubenga, told Helwani that their camp wants the Masvidal fight in spring, with the AT&T Stadium in Texas as its venue.

Confused

It didn’t take long before Masvidal responded to Nick’s recent outburst. ‘Gamebred,’ though, was confused with the intention of the callout.

“Is he asking to fight?” Masvidal said on The Dan LeBatard Show.

“I was confused or are we going for a walk some place? He’s asking for a fight?”

“He’s asking for a fight or to go for a walk? Does he know who he’s asking for a fight?

“Cause I love to fight, especially when I get a little something on top of that.”

Nothing is cast in stone yet but Masvidal is willing to fight anyone as long as the deal is good for his bank account.

“We don’t know who’s next but everybody’s looking like cash symbols, cash money to us right now.”

“The next person is going to be the one that puts the most zeros in the bank account, who that [is].”

“Everybody wants to call me out now. So it’s funny to me because these same guys didn’t want to fight me two or three years ago.”
