Jon Jones Interested In Heavyweight Fight Against Francis Ngannou

Jon Jones has once again teased a potential move to the heavyweight division and wants to sign a fight deal to face knockout sensation, Francis Ngannou.

The pound-for-pound king has been undefeated since his Octagon return in December 2018 and most recently defeated Dominick Reyes in an all-out war at UFC 247 to defend the light heavyweight title.

On Wednesday night, Jones witnessed Ovince Saint Preux made his debut at 265 pounds at UFC Jacksonville and said he could see himself in the Haitian-American fighter when he moves to the said weight class.

“Man it was weird seeing OSP fight at heavyweight, made it seem so much more real for me. Especially knowing he was at 240lbs. With a little more cardio, he would’ve been Cherries I was visualizing myself as him that whole fight.”

Former heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou chimed in and asked Jones: How real it seemed to you my friend?

The 31-year old Cameroonian stole the show at the revamped UFC 249 fight card last weekend by knocking out Jairzinho Rozenstruik just 20 seconds into the opening round.

Now on a four-fight winning streak, ‘The Predator’ expressed his frustration with the current heavyweight title picture.

“I don’t want to put my head in there because thinking about it is just getting me frustrated and mad. I don’t like this situation. I don’t like thinking about if Stipe and D.C. is going to happen,” he told MMA Fighting.

Jones responded to Ngannou’s question and criticized his technique, saying “Seemed so real Francis, all that power means nothing when your hay makers are too slow. I’m not most my friend.”

In a follow up tweet, ‘Bones’ said he is willing to take the fight against the knockout artist and stressed he has nothing else to prove in the light heavyweight division.

“Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis? If you guys think I wouldn’t take this fight you’re insane. I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I’d love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal.”

What do you think of Ngannou’s chances against Jones? Will the UFC book this intriguing heavyweight matchup?
