DC: Jon Jones Calling Out Ngannou Is ‘One Of The Most Gangster Things In The World’

Daniel Cormier has praised his biggest rival, Jon Jones, for calling out Francis Ngannou in a future heavyweight showdown.

The pound-for-pound king revealed in a Twitter post last week he is interested to take on ‘The Predator’ when he moves up to 265 pounds.

“Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis?” Jones asked his fans.

“If you guys think I wouldn’t take this fight you’re insane. I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I’d love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal.”

The JacksonWink MMA standout has been teasing a potential move to a higher weight class as he has successfully defended his light heavyweight title for three straight times since reclaiming it in December 2018.

With Cormier likely to retire from MMA after his third fight with Stipe Miocic, the 31-year old Cameroonian will be a great option for Jones in his heavyweight debut.

Not Afraid

In a recent episode of DC & Helwani, the former two-weight champion said the callout was a ‘gangster’ move and showed that Jones is not afraid of anyone in the world.

“First off, I am quick to insult Jones. I will insult Jones on any day of the week. But, I will also give him credit where credit is due. I believe this Francis Ngannou thing is one of the most gangster things in the world,” Cormier claimed.

“Why would you be scared of anyone in the world? Especially if you are a guy who has the accomplishments of Jones.”

“Why? That’s the thing that I don’t get when people say me or Jon Jones that we are afraid of someone. It is the most asinine thing in the world. We are not afraid of anything.”

“I think this Jones thing is cool. He’s like okay you want to fight let’s do it. That is what any person in the world a true fighter would do. I think hats off to Jones.”

Other Ball Game

In the post fight show of UFC Florida this past weekend, Dana White shared his thoughts about a potential clash between Jones and Ngannou.

He said: “Yeah, I mean anything is possible. I mean I don’t know if those guys really want that fight.”

“You know what I mean? But let me tell you this, and I’m not saying that this is the case with these two. But, you see a lot of talk online and whatever in my opinion. But actually making fight is a whole other ball game.”
