Jimmy Manuwa Delivers Life Altering One Hitter Quitter Walk Of KO At UFC London

London native, Jimi Manuwa, promised his home fans a knockout, and the power puncher delivered just that, in emphatic fashion.

Regarded as one of the most dangerous strikers in the division, the 37-year-old lived up to his reputation with a devastating left hand just after the third minute that left opponent Corey Anderson out cold, much to the delight of his home fans. The finish came courtesy of a devastating left hook at 3:05 of the first round and earned Manuwa a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

It was the 15th career knockout for the 37-year-old Manuwa, and 10 of them have occurred in the first round. For Manuwa, that kind of power deserves a shot at either UFC gold or a former heavyweight champion boxer.

“I want the winner of Daniel Cormier and Rumble,” Manuwa said post fight. “Or David Haye, let’s do this. Let’s make this happen.”

Cormier (18-1) is scheduled to defend his title against Johnson (22-5) at UFC 210 next month in Buffalo.

Manuwa’s request follows negotiations between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather who could face each other in a boxing ring later this year.

Whilst it’s super unlikely that the same consideration would be afforded to Manuwa, who’s nowhere near the draw of McGregor, he undoubtably though there was no harm in trying.

“Why not have me and Haye on the same card?”Manuwa told MMAjunkie at the post-fight news conference.

“I’m not interested in Jon Jones,” he said. “Jon Jones takes steroids, and he’s been banned for steroids. Before, I was a big fan of Jon and the things he’s done in the octagon. But he’s been suspended for one year because he’s had issues before. He’s a great fighter, and I respect him. But he’s been done for steroids, and that taints everything that he’s done. So I’m not really interested.

“When he comes back, I’ll fight him. No problem. But I’m focused on the belt right now, and that’s the winner of (the UFC 210 headliner).

“To me, whatever happens, happens,” Manuwa said. “I will be fighting the elite fighters of the world, and we’ll see what happens. He’s back in July, and (Cormier and Johnson) are fighting next month, so the fight could be made before he comes back. I’m going to fly to Las Vegas to meet with Dana, and we’ll see what happens.
