Henry Cejudo Willing To Marry Jose Aldo To Secure Bantamweight Fight

Former UFC two-weight champion would go as far as marrying Jose Aldo in a bid to secure the bantamweight fight with the mixed martial arts legend.

The Brazilian fighter was originally scheduled to challenge Cejudo for the bantamweight title on May 9 but he needed to pull out of the card because of travel restrictions in his country due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Triple C’ will now put his UFC gold on the line in the co-headliner of the revamped UFC 249 card opposite Dominick Cruz this weekend in Jacksonville, Florida.

But this doesn’t mean Cejudo is moving on from his match-up with the former featherweight titlist.

Bend The Knee

The Olympic gold medalist recently quipped he is willing to the tie the knot with Aldo to help him obtain a visa so they can fight in the US soil.

“The thing is, I’m not letting ‘Jose Baldo’ off the hook,” Cejudo said in an interview with ESPN.

“He’s got to man up to me now. I told people if I have to marry him to get him to this country, because I know he’s having visa problems, that’s what I’ll do so we could fight.”

“So I’ll be willing to get on one knee, but I ain’t letting that dude off the hook. So Jose Aldo, you’re next.”

Cejudo echoed the same sentiment when speaking to TMZ.

I told Dan White I’ll take this fight with Dominick Cruz but I don’t want to leave Jose ‘Baldo’ off the hook. If I have to marry him to fight him then I will do that. I will literally marry the dude to take the dude out.”

Wait For Their Chance

Aside from the Aldo fight, ‘Triple C’ is also setting his sights on sharing the cage with Alexander Volkanovski in hopes to win another chip in a different weight class.

To this, he wants other bantamweight contenders to weight for their chance for a title shot.

“After that, Alexander Volkanovski, that overgrown midget, he’s next.”

“I’m going tell them to wait for their chance,” Cejudo said, referring to bantamweight fighters.

“Wait for their king to tell them to bend the knee. Aljamain Sterling got knocked out by the guy that I knocked out. Wait in line.”

“Then Petr Yan, he needs to learn better English. He absolutely sucks. You can’t beat a 41-year-old [in Urijah Faber] and expect to get a title shot. That’s just ridiculous.”

“I’d rather fight someone who hasn’t fought in four years as in Dominick.”
