George Foreman Reacts To Mike Tyson Training For Boxing Return

George Foreman is urging Mike Tyson to back out of his plans to come out of retirement.

Earlier this week, ‘the baddest man on the planet’ revealed he is currently training for a potential boxing return as he wants to do 3-4 charity bouts.

“I’ve been hitting the mitts for the last week,” Tyson told American rapper, T.I.

“I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff. Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected mother-f—– like me.”

Asked about his workout routine, the boxing legend shared: “I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps.”

“Then I start my day with the boxing thing, I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition. I’m starting to put those combinations together.”

“I’m in pain. I feel like three guys kicked the s— out of me.”

Not Necessary

Tyson hanged up his gloves, following a defeat to Kevin McBride in 2005, to end his legendary career with 50-6 win-loss slate while holding multiple boxing records including the youngest boxer to become a heavyweight champion and the first heavyweight to hold three world titles simultaneously.

A year after his retirement, Tyson battled Corey Sanders in an exhibition bout as he tried to recover from bankruptcy and combat mental health struggles.

For ‘Big’ George, ‘Iron Mike’ has nothing to prove as a boxer at this point and he believes coming out of retirement is not necessary for the former undisputed champion.

“Tyson has done enough great things for boxing. No more is needed. He is in the Hall of Fame and was a mighty puncher,” the 71-year old said.

Not Discouraged

Tyson has found massive success outside boxing as he became an entrepreneur in the marijuana industry, an actor, and a podcaster after retirement.

Looking back at his past experiences, ‘Iron Mike’ told The Sportsman last month: “You’re capable of going to jail, you’re capable of dying, you’re capable of being mistreated.”

“I don’t really expect bad things to happen to me, but when they do happen to me, I understand it and am able to handle it.”

“I’ve handled bad stuff before, that’s been my life. So I don’t trip over bad things. I know shit happens.  I won’t be discouraged.”
