Sometimes, you experience a bad day at the office. But this story of a Muay Thai boxer is just really beyond worse.
The fighter went viral last December 2017 after images of his horrific head injury sustained in a combat sports surfaced online.
During a fight at the Patong Stadium in Thailand last year, a fighter named Jeremy sustained one of the worst injuries in combat sports. After his opponent landed a brutal elbow to the face, Jeremy, who hails from France, suffered a dented forehead, a sign of an injured skull.
Despite the incident, Jeremy still managed to continue fighting and surprisingly did not feel any dizziness.
A fighter who trains in the same gym with the French fighter uploaded the photos in social media.
“Bit of a nasty injury caused by a big elbow on Monday night at Patong stadium. He had surgery last night, wish him a quick recovery! It happened in a professional Muay Thai fight at a local stadium. His Thai opponent landed a big elbow strike that caused the injury. He was fine though. He wasn’t wobbled and kept fighting, but the referee stopped the fight to get a doctor to look at the injury and the doctor obviously stopped it right away.”
Luckily, he did not suffer any injury to the brain.
Being the fighter that he is, Jeremy faced this tough obstacle with an indomitable spirit. He spent some days in the hospital after undergoing major surgery. According to Jonny Betts, a titanium plate was used to repair the damage.
It was a lucky escape for the French Muay Thai fighter from that brutal fractured skull. We hope that he has fully recovered now a year after that devastating experience.
The same incident happened in professional mixed martial arts competition, Bellator. MMA fighter Evangelista Santos took a brutal knee hit, which caused him the worst injury in MMA as described by Joe Rogan. Like Jeremy, Santos has undergone a reconstructive operation, where doctors fitted a titanium plate on his skull.
