Eddie Hearn Reveals Talks For New Fight Night Game ‘Hopefully This Year’

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that he’s been in talks for a new Fight Night game, and says he’s hopeful for a 2020 release.

EA Sports released Fight Night 4 over a decade ago, and the developer hasn’t brought an instalment of the game out since Fight Night Champion in 2011.

The lack of a recent instalment featuring the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has left fans wanting.

The current pedigree of the heavyweight division alone means it would make perfect sense for the gaming giants to cash in on the high demand.

‘Hopefully This Year’

And Hearn has now revealed that he’s in talks to try and get the game pushed through for fans.

During a Q&A on Twitter, one fan tweeted the promoter to state that a new boxing game ‘wouldn’t go a miss’.

The 40-year-old responded with confirmation that he’s been trying to get the game ‘for a while’ and accepts that a new instalment in the franchise ‘would be huge’.

And the Matchroom boss’s comment sparked a frenzy on Twitter, with fans quickly backing up his shouts for a new game.

 Excitement

EA recently sparked excitement amongst fans by announcing that its closing it’s servers for Fight Night 4.

In an email announcement, the developer revealed that as of March 9 2020, online modes would no longer be available.

The announcement read: “Hello Fight Night Round 4 fans, After 11 years of an incredible online community, the daily active playerbase in Fight Night Round 4 has reached a very low number and we can no longer ensure a quality online experience.”

“As of March 9, 2020, the Fight Night Round 4 servers will be retired.”

“After this date, you’ll still be able to play the offline modes on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.”

“Thanks for your continued support.”

This sparked rumours of a new game, with many fans speculating that the closure of the old servers was to make way for a new title.

 2020 Release

Adding to the speculation is the next generation of consoles.

Playstation 5 has now been confirmed for 2020, with a November or December release looking most likely.

In light of Hearn’s recent comments, it looks as though a new game could coincide and give fans what they’ve been waiting for.
