Donald Cerrone Blasts The Media For Bringing Up Past Feud With Conor McGregor

Ahead of the press conference for the UFC 246 pay-per-view event, Donald Cerrone went off on the media for bringing up his previous encounter with ‘The Notorious.’

Cerrone will take on Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 246 at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas on January 18 – the first PPV offering from the Nevada-based promotion.

The UFC is set to hold a pre-fight press conference on January 15 to promote its MMA event and everyone is excited on what could unfold in the said media scrum, which will be free and open to the public.

The Irishman is known for his trademark trash-talking skills that successfully brought massive hype on his previous fights against the likes of Jose Aldo, Nate Diaz, and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

However, Cerrone has previously stated he will not bad-mouth McGregor during the build-up unless he steps beyond the line.

Move On

Back in 2015, the two fan-favourites had an exchange at the UFC 194 pre-fight media scrum.

That time, McGregor was slated to fight Aldo for the featherweight championship while Cerrone was booked against Rafael Dos Anjos.

‘Cowboy’ quickly interfered when the Irishman tried to get himself involved with his business with RDA.

Cerrone said McGregor has no right to move up to lightweight class, saying most 155-pounders would be too big for him.

But the UFC veteran said everyone should move on from this past feud.

“That’s just you media boys digging and shoveling for sh*t to bring up,” Cerrone said in a recent interview with MMA Fighting.

“That’s all that was. Conor hasn’t said anything bad about me so you’ve got to go get old sh*t out.”

And it looks like even McGregor has moved on from this old beef as he has been giving positive remarks to Cerrone.

“I know Donald’s a good fighter,” McGregor told The Mac Life.

“[He has] great records. Most knockdowns, most head kicks, most fights, most rounds. He’s got a lot of UFC records under his belt.”

Don’t Low Blow

While Cerrone is aware of Conor’s reputation for his explosive media appearances, he said it will be a different story if ‘The Notorious’ gets too personal.

“He’s the best at it. He is the best,” Cowboy admitted.

“The thing is you’d really have to go low, talk about my grandma or my kid and then it would put it on another level.”

“You understand what I’m saying? Then I’ll just come f*ck you up in the lobby type sh*t.”

“I don’t think it’s ever going to go that way. He understands that.”

“We’re fighting, he can talk about that all he wants but don’t low blow.”
