Donald Cerrone Says He’s ‘Absolutely’ A Better Fighter Than Conor McGregor

Donald Cerrone is set to appear on his 51st professional mixed martial arts bout and he believes he just gets better and better.

The MMA veteran will be locking horns with the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s biggest draw in Conor McGregor in the headlining fight of the UFC 246 in January 18 at the T-mobile Arena.

Cerrone may be coming off a pair of losses but many fans and pundits believe he would be a tough nut to crack for the returning Irishman.

Going into this intriguing welterweight clash, ‘Cowboy’ holds the record for the most wins in the UFC with 23, most finishes with 16, and most post-fight bonuses with 18.

He plans to add numbers to these records by defeating McGregor, who hasn’t fought in the cage since October 2018.

With rust potentially playing a factor, Cerrone said he is the better mixed marital artist compared to the former two-division champ.

Training Hard

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Cerrone said his longevity in the sports gives him the edge over anybody in the competition.

Do I feel like a better mixed martial artist? Absolutely,” he claimed.

“I feel like I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve been in the big fights. I’ve walked this path many, many times.”

“This is my 51st MMA fight coming out of that tunnel. Literally, I’ve done it more than anybody.”

Just less than two weeks ahead of his showdown with McGregor, Cerrone said he is excited to showcase the best version of ‘Cowboy’ in Las Vegas.

“We’re both going to have a healthy, fat camp. How about that?”

“We don’t have to worry about battling with diet and all that sh*t.”

“We just get to go be who we want, train hard and show up healthy and I’m excited.”

“All in all to get the best Conor, the best ‘Cowboy,’ this is the only way to do it.”

Stoked

Cerrone has also shut down rumours he is taking a dive against McGregor and said he will give everything his all in a fight regardless of the opponent.

“I’m stoked to get any fight.”

“I’ve been doing these interviews for a while now. I’m excited for it all.”

And for this fight against ‘The Notorious,’ his son will serve as his biggest motivation.

“One day, I’m going to sit back with my little boy and say. ‘Your daddy, he was one bad motherf*cker, boy,'”

“He’ll be there screaming and hollering front row at UFC 246.”
