Donald Cerrone Explains Why He Won’t Bad-mouth Conor McGregor Ahead Of UFC 246

Donald Cerrone has no plans to talk trash to Conor McGregor in the build-up to their much-awaited welterweight clash.

In a battle between two MMA fan-favourites, Cerrone will lock horns with the returning Irishman in the main event of UFC 246 in January 18, 2020 at the T-mobile Arena.

Both fighters will be making a comeback on the welterweight division.

‘Cowboy’ won his last UFC bout at 170 pounds, submitting Mike Perry at UFC Denver before going 2-2 in his return to the lightweight class.

Meanwhile, ‘The Notorious’ from Ireland made his last trip at welterweight way back 2016, when he avenged his loss to Nate Diaz in their rematch.

McGregor is once again expected to bring his trademark antics during the fight build up, but Cerrone said it won’t be a cause of concern.

‘That’s His Life’

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘Cowboy’ said he will refuse to give comments about his opponent’s past troubles.

“I’m not going to talk badly about him. I don’t really care. He does his life and whatever he wants to do he can,” he told MMA Junkie, (per Bloody Elbow).

“I’m just as wild and crazy as him, but in a different way.”

“The media keep asking me, ‘What do you think of the trouble he gets in?’ The guy lives under a microscope.”

Cerrone said he only focuses on their meeting in the cage and not on digging at McGregor’s past.

“Anything he does people want to blow up and make a big deal about it. That’s his life. I would never even dig at something like that.”

“Hell, no. Only goddamn thing I’m talking about is fighting only. Anything outside of it – that’s you.”

“You do what you want to do.”

“You want to meet me in the cage and fight – fighting that’s a whole different thing – but I’m not going to bring up anything from the past or anything he’s done outside the octagon.”

Smashing Records

Set for his 51st professional MMA bout, Cerrone is looking to break his own records in the UFC.

“Let this Soak in! This will be my 51st MMA fight and I plan to add new numbers to all these list come January 18.”

“I hold the all-time UFC record for wins with 23.”

“I hold the all-time UFC record for finishes with 16.”

“I hold the all-time UFC record for post-fight bonus awards with 18.”

“I hold the all-time UFC record in knockdowns with 20.”

“I hold the all-time UFC record with seven knockouts via kicks.”
