WATCH: Derrick Lewis Beats Down Trash-talking Boxer In Gym

Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis is certainly not the person to mess with.

‘The Black Beast’ recently posted a video of him displaying his knockout power against a boxer, who disrespected him for being a mixed martial artist.

In a recent Twitter post, MMA fans saw Lewis pummeling his trash-talking opponent.

“When a boxers said he will knock me out because I’m a mma fighter,” he wrote.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani provided more details about the incident.

“Asked Derrick about this. He said a boxer at his gym was talking ‘a lot’ of smack about boxers vs MMA fighters. This happened yesterday. Lasted 1 minute, he said.”

Surprised

The UFC fan-favourite is coming off a split decision win against Blagoy Ivanov at UFC 244, which snapped his two-fight losing streak.

Prior to this victory, he was submitted by Daniel Cormier at UFC 230 before suffering a technical knockout loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC Wichita.

For his next UFC outing, he will face Ilir Latifi in February 2020 at UFC 247 in Texas.

Lewis said the booking took him by surprise as he feels Latifi is too small for him.

“It was a real surprise that they chose Latifi because I believe that he was a small 205-er and for anything, he should have went down to 185 instead of coming up to heavyweight,” Lewis said, via MMA Junkie.

“And I heard that he had called me out, and wanted to fight me, so it was a real surprise to me, that he wanted to pick the biggest guy in the division, like the fattest guy in the division.”

The former title contender, though, stressed he is not underestimating Latifi as he is an explosive fighter.

“I know he’s an explosive guy, he’s a wrestler or what. I don’t think he’ll be any different than anyone else.”

Joining ‘The Black Beast’ in the February 2020 PPV event is reigning light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who will be making his third title-defence against the streaking Dominick Reyes in the card’s headlining bout.
