Dana White Reveals Next Potential Opponent For Colby Covington

Ultimate Fighting Championsip president, Dana White, has shared the next potential opponent for Colby Covington after falling short of capturing the welterweight title.

Headlining the promotion’s final pay-per-view show of the year, Covington tussled with Kamaru Usman in a welterweight title fight in Las Vegas last Saturday.

Seeing his winning streak come to an end, the controversial American fighter suffered a questionable fifth-round stoppage, following a hotly-contested battle in the first four rounds.

Talks about Covington leaving the UFC quickly surfaced after the loss as he previously made threats of retiring from MMA during the UFC 245 build-up.

But according to the promotion chief, ‘Chaos’ is not going anywhere as White would love to see him fight Tyron Woodley next.

Fun Fight

Despite Covington threatening to slap the UFC president in the face, White said he wants the welterweight star to recover from injury and be back for his next fight, which could be against Woodley.

“I don’t have a problem with him. I don’t have a problem with Covington,” White said, per MMA Fighting.

“I’d love to do him and [Tyron] Woodley next. That would be a fun fight, but if he has a broken jaw, he ain’t going to be around for a minute.”

“After a war like this, he’s going to have to go rest, take care of himself for a while and then we’ll see what he wants to do.”

“Listen, I’ve dealt with his type a million times in the last 20 years.”

“You can tell he’s not happy that tonight did not go as he planned.”

“He came out with a game plan, whatever the hell he had going on in his mind that he was going to do or whatever was going to happen and Usman stomped all over that.”

“We’ll let this kid go back, heal up and figure out what’s next.”

Poor Officiating

Covington has expressed his dismay with the stoppage, saying it was called early.

He has slammed referee Marc Goddard, who officiated the UFC 245 main event fight, for robbing him of the chance to kill or be killed in Las Vegas.

“Just a kid from Oregon chasing the American Dream,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

“Working hard and earning everything in my life the hard way since day one. I put myself out there in front of the world to kill or be killed.”

“Marc Godard robbed me tonight with piss poor officiating. He let my opponent fake injuries for extra time and stopped the fight early.”

“Just like America, my will and spirit can never be broken. Speed bumps can’t slow me down. You people ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Who do you think Colby Covington should fight next after his defeat at UFC 245? Is Tyron Woodley the worthy opponent for his next UFC outing?
