Dana White Responds To Critics Saying UFC 246 Main Event Was Fixed

The Ultimate Fighting Championship president is furious.

Dana White has slammed mixed martial arts fans, who were claiming that the UFC 246 headlining bout was rigged.

The Nevada-based promotion booked Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone to headline the fight card as the UFC attempted to kick off the new year on a high note.

The two fan-favourites have not lost their appeal despite their recent losses as the welterweight clash recorded a $10 million gate.

Ahead of this intriguing clash, some MMA fans accused Cerrone of getting paid big time to take a dive against ‘The Notorious,’ whose last win came at November 12, 2016.

When the dust settled, McGregor saw his hand raised as he eked out a spectacular 40-second knockout of Cerrone after unleashing a brutal head kick, shoulder strikes, and ground-and-pound.

White was all praises for the Irishman, saying he won’t criticize him again for his decision to fight at 170 pounds.

Came To Win

In the post-fight media scrum, the outspoken UFC chief defended the main event stars, saying McGregor came with a brilliant gameplan to annihilate Cerrone.

“I know that there are always critics. And there is always somebody who has an opinion. People are gonna say Cowboy was shot, which is total bullshit,” he told reporters, (via Essentially Fight).

“Conor McGregor came out, he looked fast, he hit hard, he had a gameplan, and he finished a real tough kid who came to win.”

“I was blown away. He looked unbelievable.”

White then shot down possibilities of booking McGregor against the ‘BMF’ champion, Jorge Masvidal, as he believes a rematch with Nurmagomedov is the fight that makes sense for the Irish star.

Not There Yet

Meanwhile, McGregor has no plans of slowing down after a huge win as he aims to dispatch the ‘little mouthy fools’ of 170 pounds.

“I like this [welter]weight division,” McGregor said, (per The Irish Mirror).

“I feel really good. It’s good going up and down [weight divisions].”

“God willing I came out of here unscathed. I’m in shape. I don’t believe I’m there yet, though. I still have work to do to get back to where I was.”

“So I’m going to party tonight, celebrate, spend time with my family and then get back in the gym and train.”

“And anyone of these little mouthy fools can get it, all of them.”
