UFC lightweight king turned professional boxer Conor McGregor has been washing off the last few months of hard preparation for his boxing super fight with Floyd Mayweather in style, splashing some of his hard earned $160 million purse around in Ibiza. He certainly doesn’t look too upset to have been defeated by the veteran boxing legend, enjoying a well-deserved escape to the Balearic Islands.
McGregor first spoke of his trip to Ibiza following his loss to Mayweather, who TKO’d the mixed martial artist in the tenth round of their fight. “I’m going to hit Ibiza for a childhood friend’s wedding and going to hire a 100-foot yacht. Those are my plans, and then we’ll see what’s next.”
McGregor’s life long mate Tom Devitt was the groom-to-be, and it seems the two had a blast together as McGregor recovered from the bout and celebrated his old friend’s marriage. His eyes may still have been showing some bruising from the fight a week previous, but it didn’t seem like his ego took any damage. McGregor walked around Ibiza, shirt off, draped in Gucci and Fendi gear, and hanging out with his entourage.
While McGregor may not have come away from the super fight with a W against his record, he certainly seems to be living it up like someone who just took home $160 million. And who could blame him, when it seems he may be in for another pay day upon his return to the UFC. McGregor’s manager Audie Attar believes McGregor will have many different opportunities at his door when he decides to return to the octagon, including a third fight with lightweight star Nate Diaz.
“[McGregor] wants that trilogy [with Diaz],” said Attar in a post fight interview.
“You’ve got Khabib [Nurmagomedov] calling him out, then you obviously have Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee who are fighting for the interim lightweight title.
“You have Max Holloway, who is the 145 champ now, who Conor beat after blowing out his ACL at the beginning of the fight.
“You have options, and he loves mixed martial arts.”
