Conor McGregor Interested In Boxing Floyd Mayweather Again

Conor McGregor wants another shot at a crossover fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

‘The Notorious’ from Ireland will be making a return to professional fighting this weekend, when he headlines the much-anticipated UFC 246 fight card opposite Donald Cerrone.

Setting his sights on bigger things such as winning the ‘BMF’ title and the welterweight strap, McGregor will begin a new journey at 170 pounds, following his fourth-round submission to Khabib Nurmagomedov at lightweight in October 2018.

Ahead of his Octagon return, he reignites talks about a potential rematch with Mayweather Jr, saying he will surely win this time.

Phenomenal

McGregor crossed the bridge in August 2017 and fought Mayweather Jr. in what many considered as the biggest fight in combat sports history.

Unfortunately, the boxing legend was just too much to handle for the UFC star.

Mayweather stamped his class on McGregor and earned a convincing tenth-round technical knockout win.

Despite the loss, the MMA superstar believes he put up a sensational performance in that crossover bout.

This is why he is interested to do it again with the undefeated boxer.

“I’d like to rematch Floyd. I think we should rematch Floyd. I mean, he’s flirting with it, and they want all this,” he told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

“And he can go and pick someone else. It’s not gonna be the same. It’s not. I’ve done phenomenal in that bout.”

Good Rematch

McGregor revealed both camps have verbally agreed on a rematch but Mayweather has been adamant it should happen only in the ring.

And if a boxing rematch takes place, ‘The Notorious’ is confident he would even their rivalry with one win apiece.

“I know I’d beat Floyd, I’d beat Floyd if we rematched, when we rematch. He’s not gonna do a mixed martial arts bout like he said.”

“It was supposed to be me boxing, and then we’ll do a mixed martial arts bout.”

“That was what was said. And it came out of his mouth as well, and it was not written, but it was a verbal agreement.”

“And obviously, that’s not gonna happen. I’m not going to push him on that, either. But I would like to box him. I think that would be a good rematch.

“You never know [if it could happen this year].”
