WATCH: Colby Covington’s Jaw Is Healing Up Faster Than Expected

It looks like Colby Covington has recovered from the injury he suffered at the hands of Kamaru Usman.

The outspoken American fighter challenged Usman for the welterweight title in the main event of UFC 245 at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas last month.

Though he came up short in winning the title, Masvidal was lauded by mixed martial arts fans for putting up a great fight against the defending champion, where he broke his jaw in the process.

As an aftermath of the injury, ‘Chaos’ could be out of the cage for six months, according to the medical suspensions report released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

“Colby Covington — Must have nondisplaced midline mandibular fracture cleared by oral and maxillofacial surgeon or no contest until 6/12/20. Minimum suspension until 2/13/20, no contact until 1/29/20,” the report said.

But in a video recently posted by TMZ, Covington’s jaw is healing up faster than expected.

Back To Training

According to his manager Dan Lambert, the welterweight star will be back to training next month as they are eyeing a return fight on April or May.

“He had a small fracture in the jaw. It did not (need to be) wired shut or anything along those lines,” Lamber told The Score.

“He’s back just healing up, resting and relaxing. I expect him back in the gym in a couple of weeks.”

“Full throttle from there, that’s the way that kid is.”

“He’ll be training in February so I mean in theory he’ll be ready to fight as early as April, maybe May.”

“But that depends on what he wants to do, what the UFC has in mind for him opponent wise. A lot of things have to happen before he gets back in there, so I guess we’ll have to see.”

Missing In Action

But according to Covington’s former training partner, Jorge Masvidal, ‘Chaos’ has gone missing in action at the American Top Team, following his fifth round technical knockout loss to Usman.

“Look D, [Dustin Poirier] is going to get upset that I’m even saying this because it’s locker room talk,” Masvidal told Ariel Helwani.

“But, he’s like, ‘Yo man, where the f**k is Colby?’ So I’m like, don’t even worry about him because he’s on witness protection program.”

“That dude don’t go to the gym, man. He’s a punk and he got what he deserved.”
