Michael Bisping Explains Why ‘Charismatic’ Tyson Fury Would Be Big For UFC

Tyson Fury has expressed his interest to foray into mixed martial arts and former world champion, Michael Bisping, is positive about his potential impact to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In an interview with Sky Sports last month, the lineal heavyweight champion revealed that he might be making his MMA debut this year.

This is not the first time Fury will start a career outside the ring as he has appeared on his first professional wrestling match at the WWE Crown Jewel last October 31.

“I’ve got something epic coming up, after this. Even bigger than this. Yeah, we might see Tyson Fury have his MMA debut this year too,” the 31-year old British said.

“It’s different but like I say, ‘Tyson Fury, taking over.'”

Fury has began training with Darren Till and has been called out by the UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic.

However, UFC president Dana White said it would be better if the ‘Gypsy King’ stays on boxing.

Massive Pay-Per-View

But ‘The Count’ has to disagree with the promotion chief.

On a recent episode of Believe You Me podcast, Bisping said signing Fury would be a big boost to UFC’s financial success.

Since fighting Deontay Wilder in the US soil, Fury has become more popular across the states. His appeal to boxing fans helped him land a lucrative fight deal with ESPN earlier this year.

“If Tyson Fury was to come over, I’m not gonna say the word ‘groom,’ but they would stagger his matchups and give him logical matchups,” Bisping stated.

“Listen, look at the UFC. People call it the entertainment era and Fury ties into that perfectly. The guy can talk, he can talk sh-t for days.”

“He’s very, very funny. He can put people down, he sings on the microphone.”

Bisping is confident that a UFC fight card with Fury on the line up would generate massive PPV.

“Not only is he the heavyweight champion of the world but he’s massively charismatic.”

“He’s an absolute huge star and if he can come over win a couple of fights and then get a title fight, for the UFC that’s big business.”

“That’d be a massive, massive pay-per-view.”

Correct Matchups

If Fury makes his way to the UFC, Bisping thinks he would fare well against other guys in the 265-pound class.

“I truly believe that (he’ll do well) if you matched him up correctly,” Bisping continued.

“Cause there is some good wrestlers like Stipe, for one.”

“He outwrestled Ngannou, Ngannou’s been doing MMA longer than Fury so you’d think he’d outwrestle Fury as well.”

“That just goes without saying, really.”

“And they’re not gonna give Tyson Fury a title fight right off the bat anyway. But then you’ve got other guys.”

“I mean Cormier’s gonna be done soon.”
