Amanda Nunes is already thinking of hanging up her gloves following a triumphant featherweight title-defence bid.
The Brazilian legend most recently returned to action and headlined the UFC 250 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas for her first featherweight title-retention attempt since winning the belt in December 2018.
Living up to expectations, Nunes eked out a dominant performance against Felicia Spencer to punch her way to unanimous decision win, with the cageside judges scoring 50-44, 50-44, 50-45.
“I’m not surprised, I know she’s very tough. I said in all my interviews, I know what she’s capable of. I studied her and know she’s tough,” she said after the victory.
“You know, I don’t know [who is next]. That was my goal, defending my two belts at the same time. I’m with the greats. I’m so happy right now. I don’t know what’s next. I’m very proud of myself and my team.”
Leaving The Sport
The two-weight champion has said she would likely miss the rest of the year as she wants to focus on her family, with her wife, Nina Ansaroff set to give birth to their first child.
But a few days later, Nunes said she might leave the sport for good.
“Ah, I don’t know, I’ve achieved everything I wanted. I’m well, I can go on with my life, maybe a [take] new step, maybe find new talents, help some girls there…maybe be a coach, too,” she told MMA Fighting.
“I’m in a moment that I can retire, you know, and I’m in a moment that I can fight. I’m fine. There’s nothing else to be done right now in the division.”
“The Hall of Fame will come, for sure. My life going forward, if I do stop now, the UFC will give me every support I need to continue having my money and work.”

Nunes is dubbed by many as the greatest women’s mixed martial artist of all-time, having won two world titles in the UFC and holding big wins against the likes of Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Miesha Tate, and Valentina Shevchenko.
The Brazilian fighter remains undefeated in five years while joining the ranks of Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, and Henry Cejudo as the only fighter to hold two belts simultaneously.
She won the bantamweight championship in September 2016 and has successfully defended it for five times.
