Tyrone Woodley And Conor McGregor Fuel Speculation Of Title Fight At UFC 213

News that Conor McGregor may soon make his much anticipated return to the UFC’s octagon has sent social media into overdrive, with just two posts causing a frenzy amongst fans, media and athletes alike.

Just two posts was all it took to get people riled up and speculating that the “Notorious” one could be making his return at UFC 213 against UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

A post on Woodley’s Instagram account confirmed for all that he would be returning to the cage soon, and that his “training camp starts today”.

With Demian Maia being strategically pitted against Jorge Masvidal by the UFC, there is no clear cut contender waiting in the wings to attempt to dethrone Woodley. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson is now on a two fight losing skid after facing Woodley twice, so it would seem the champion is currently without a dance partner. Could it be that the Irish mixed martial arts super star will make the trip up to welterweight once more, this time to step in and take on one of the heaviest hitters in the division?

Ariel Helwani, a highly respected media member quickly shot down the assertion, saying the rumours were “absolutely not true”, but that hasn’t stopped fans and other fighters from feeding the rumour mill. Check out some of the tweets below:

While a fight between the two may not be going down at UFC 213, it’s not like the UFC have ruled out the possibility of it occurring sometime in the future. The two have engaged in a fair amount of trash talk after a brief encounter back stage led to McGregor talking major smack about Woodley.

McGregor announced yesterday that his next bout is going to “be announced very soon”, so keep an eye out for the news that is sure to set the internet alight once more.
