Nick Diaz Reveals The Real Reason Why He’s Been Ducking USADA

At the end of June, UFC president Dana White stated that he didn’t think Nick Diaz would ever set foot inside the Octagon again and now we know why…

Speaking with MMAJunkie, White was asked if he thought we’d see the older Diaz brother back inside the cage this year and his response was pretty clear cut.

“I highly doubt it,” White replied. “I don’t know. I honestly don’t think that, and I can’t speak for him, you’d have to speak with Nick himself, but if you ask me…I don’t think Nick Diaz will ever fight again. I just don’t think he has the desire anymore.”

The 33-year-old hasn’t fought since his decision loss to Anderson Silva in early 2015 and hasn’t tasted victory since October 2011 when he beat BJ Penn.

White said that he believes the veteran has lost his passion to compete in mixed martial arts.

“The thing about fighting, first of all, it’s a young man’s game,” White said. “You’ve got to be young, hungry. You’ve got to be an animal to jump out of bed every day and go in there and train the way that you do.

“The things that you have to do to get to the UFC, let alone break into the top 10 or the top 5 or be a world champion, you have to love it. I just don’t think that Nick loves it anymore.”

Diaz was suspended last month and is facing a UFC anti-doping policy violation for not properly filling out his whereabouts so he can be tested by USADA.

Diaz has accumulated three Whereabouts Failures within the last 12 months, which leads to a provisional suspension and potential anti-doping policy violation.

But now, Diaz has come out and explained that there’s a different reason for him not fighting: the sticky icky. It turns out, USADA always seem to show up while he’s busy smoking a “bunch of weed,” as part of his obligations to his cannabis sponsors that keep him paid outside the cage.

Like a kid at Christmas…

Diaz explained in a recent interview with My MMA News:

“They know where I’m at though. Somebody over there is not doing their job. I mean realistically, they showed up to one of my dispensary signings. Like I said, I gotta do what I can with what I have to work with when I’m not fighting. The whole cannabis industry thing is a hit right now, so yeah, I’ll book an appearance over there and I’ll go and smoke a bunch of weed and it’s a good time. So of course, word is out I’m gonna be here, they show up.”

The dude’s a cannabis connoisseur

Can they not just let the dude fight high already? I wanna see more of these scenes…

Fighting Anderson Silva? No big deal…
