Nate Diaz Burns Conor McGregor And Floyd Mayweather With One Social Media Post
The feud between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and fan favourite Nate Diaz looks to be heating up once more, after a series of jabs on social media saw Diaz butting in with an argument ending post.
McGregor had been going back and forth with his former rival Floyd “Money” Mayweather, who he fought back in August of 2017.
The bout between Mayweather and McGregor caused much controversy when it was first announced, as McGregor had never boxed professionally and would be taking on an opponent with forty-nine professional wins under his belt.
It would be the second loss in two years for McGregor, who was defeated by Nate Diaz back at UFC 196 when Diaz stepped in on just eleven days notice to battle McGregor at welterweight.
Nevertheless, the Irish mixed martial arts phenom put on a strong showing early, landing a number of crisp combinations on his opponent, Mayweather. He would eventually wilt from the output, fading to the point that Mayweather was able to take control of the later rounds, winning by TKO in the tenth round when the referee assessed McGregor as being no longer able to defend himself.
The two athletes have traded barbs on social media ever since, with “Money” posted a photoshopped image of himself landing an elbow on McGregor in the octagon, captioned: “Certified Killa v Certified B*tch.”
Mayweather had previously uploaded a video of himself inside an octagon saying “2018, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, what are the odds?” while clearly signalling that a fight inside the octagon could be in the ageing pugilist’s future.
McGregor would fire back at Mayweather’s “Certified Killa” post in just a few hours, uploading an image of him landing an elbow on Nate Diaz during their second fight at UFC 202. McGregor would go on to win a unanimous decision over the Stockton native, who was cut up and bleeding heavily by the end of the bout.
It was Diaz who would have the last laugh, however, and how could he not, considering the brutal fashion in which he finished McGregor during their first meeting?
