Conor McGregor Stars In Hilarious Television Commercial
UFC Lightweight champion and mixed martial arts super star Conor McGregor has featured in new commercial for the Pegasus World Cup.
“The Notorious” first appears arriving at a race track in the Middle East, where onlookers ask “What’s Conor McGregor doing at a race track?”.
McGregor fronts up to a press junket, fielding questions from reporters about his wish to conquer the racing world.
“Alexander wept when he had no worlds left to conquer,” says the Irishman. “That’s exactly how I feel. Today I would like to announce to the world that I will become the pound for pound number one jockey on the planet… with the help of my new trainer”.
Hollywood comedian Jon Lovitz then appears on screen playing McGregor’s new trainer.
“How hard can horse racing even be?”, asks McGregor when a media member questions whether he’s up to the task. “I’m the greatest at whatever I decide to do.”
The media member begins to laugh. “Someone’s been punched in the head a few too many times” he says, and suddenly all hell breaks loose. “You’re dead now!” screams Lovitz, who then jumps into the crowd.
Lovitz is then shown training McGregor like a race horse, walking him around a ring while telling him “You may be the king in your little world of ‘M-A-M'”, with McGregor responding that Lovitz is a “f**kin’ gobshite”.
The video ends with the two toasting the Pegasus World Cup, which has it’s first running scheduled for January 28th. The race boasts a $12 million purse, meaning it will surpass the Dubai World cup as the richest horse race in the world. Entrants each pay $1 million to purchase a position at the racing gate with many of the racing world’s championship groups quickly purchasing places.
With $12 million as a prize, it’s safe to say McGregor will have been paid handsomely for his two minute advertising spot.
