Conor McGregor Makes Ridiculous Bet For On His Fight With Floyd Mayweather
Conor McGregor earned himself the nickname Mystic Mac after a series of eerily accurate predictions regarding the outcomes of his fights in the UFC and now he’s gazed into the crystal ball and given us his view on how his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather will go.
Ahead of the biggest challenge of his fighting career, The Notorious confidently predicted: “I will knock this man outside inside four rounds.”
Of course he’s going to predict that he’ll walk away victorious but McGregor has apparently put his money where his mouth is and laid an incredible bet on himself.
A source a close to the Irishman told the Irish Sun, “Conor is as confident as ever ahead of his fight and he’s prepared to put his money where his mouth is. The message to his friends and family has been simple from Conor, he’s telling them to get rich off his back.
“He has told a lot of people to back him if they want to earn some easy money.
“They will have been reassured by the fact that he says he’s putting €1 million on himself to win, that’s how confident he is.
“We know how accurate Conor’s predictions have been in the past and that’s why people close to him will find his tip hard to ignore.”
Considering the fact that he stands to make approximately $100 million USD from the fight, itself, the sum of €1 million is peanuts but, considering the fact that he apparently told his friends and family to bet on him, The Notorious is clearly pretty damn confident that he can pull off the win.
McGregor made his first UFC prediction ahead of his fight with Diego Brandão back in 2014. Here’s what he said on that occasion:
“He’s gonna feel pressure like he never felt before. He’s gonna be on the back foot… he’ll have his back against the fence from the bell and I’m gonna press him and press him and crack him with shot’s he’s never felt.
“Then, ultimately he will crumble and I don’t think he’ll get out of the first round.”
Brandão was knocked out with 55 seconds to go in the first round.
Although he doesn’t always get it right, McGregor has made accurate predictions on a number of occasions since then, most notably before his fight with Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight crown.
Not only did the Irishman predict the correct round but he also foresaw how his victory would come about. This is what he said:
“I felt when we stared down, I felt his right-hand twitching which was a subtle tell for me. He is ready to unload that right hand and I feel that could be a downfall for him. If he lets that right hand go, I will not be there. I simply enter the way I enter and that will be enough that they even overextend or shrink away from me. Either way that is not good for him.”
