Conor McGregor May Be Set For Another Boxing Bout
We all know that two-time world champion boxer Paulie Malignaggi is desperate for a professional boxing bout with Conor McGregor but now, an actual current champion’s name has been thrown in the hat for a lucrative clash with The Notorious.
McGregor has had only one professional boxing bout and suffered a loss at the hands of the undefeated Floyd Mayweather but that hasn’t stopped him from being offered a world title shot.
The Irishman is planning to return to the Octagon later this year but it would be hard to pass up the opportunity to win a world title (and the multitudes of millions that would come with it).
After stunning the world and winning the WBO welterweight crown with a unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao in July, Aussie battler Jeff Horn was expecting a rematch with the Filipino legend but now that Pacman has pulled out of the fight, Horn is seeking a new opponent to do battle with in November.
And now, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has conducted an interview in which she stated her desire to bring the outspoken Irishman down under.
“If we could get McGregor, that would be great,” she said via Bloody Elbow.
Palaszczuk also took a swipe at Pacquiao for turning down a rematch with Horn. “Frankly, I think he’s a bit too scared to come and face Jeff Horn.”
“For Manny not to reappear, really says to me that he knows Jeff is the world champion,” she added.
In all likelihood, the chances of McGregor fighting the world champ in his second professional bout are slim, especially considering the fact that Horn has ties with Top Rank, whose boss, Bob Arum, is involved in a long running feud with UFC president, Dana White.
Also, it would send the boxing purists into an absolute meltdown!
What do you guys reckon? Would you be keen to see ole Horny and McGregor duke it out? Let us know in the comments!
