WATCH: Floyd Mayweather Declares McGregor Fight is for “All the Blacks Around the World”
The boxing super fight between veteran boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was always going to veer into the lane of sporting spectacle, but the two combat sports stars have been drawn into an area regarding race and homophobia that could turn some fans away. During their three country-four city world tour McGregor told Mayweather to “Dance for me, boy!” whilst Mayweather called McGregor a “f*ggot” in front of a jam-packed crowd.
As it goes, McGregor also ended up making another racial gaffe when he called referred to the film Rocky III as the movie with “the dancing monkeys in the gym” during an appearance on the TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Mayweather has since talked about how he felt regarding the comment during an interview with ESPN, and you can tell he’s more than a little miffed.
“I just didn’t like when he called us monkeys,” said Mayweather. “I think that was totally disrespect. He called us monkeys. So I didn’t like it. It didn’t push a button to make me jump all up out of my character and go crazy, but I didn’t like it.”
“I just thought about all our different leaders, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X. They went on the front line for me and my family and all my loved ones. And like I said before, this stuff still goes on. But I’m strong, smart, patient. And come Aug. 26, I’ll be the same person: smart, strong, patient. And the same way he called us monkeys, we’re gonna see if he say that August 26th.”
“This is for a cause. This is for the American people. This is for all the blacks around the world.”
McGregor has not yet commented explicitly regarding the video that appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, with the footage being taken down from YouTube. It’s no shock when you look at the fact that Kimmel actually owns a stake in the UFC… McGregor’s only comment regarding the video was during the world tour when he said Mayweather was “try to sway the people in his favour” and that it was a “cheap little play.”
With just two weeks until the two combat sports stars finally face off in the ring, you can bet things are just going to keep on heating up! Check out the video of Mayweather’s interview below and let us know what you think:
